WHAT TO KNOW
Global COVID-19 cases have reached 18,263,542, up from 17,296,303 at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Canada now reports 117,031 cases, up from 115,799 cases of COVID-19 on Friday. Ontario reports 39,628 cases, up from 39,209 cases on Friday.
The growth rate of new cases in the province is still under 1%, with 91 (0.2%) new cases reported since yesterday. Of the province’s total cases, 35,601 have been resolved (89.8%) and there have been 2,782 deaths (7%). The province has now completed 2,277,887 tests and reports 9,285 tests are currently under investigation. More information here.

PROVINCIAL
On July 31, the Ontario Government, in partnership with the federal government, extended the Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance (CECRA) for small businesses by one month to help eligible small businesses pay rent for August. More information here.
In response to a question at his daily press conference on Tuesday about the delayed delivery of pandemic pay to some eligible workers, Ontario Premier Doug Ford urged employers to begin paying pandemic pay to eligible workers immediately. The temporary pay bump will apply retroactively to April 24 and last until Aug. 13, paying eligible workers an extra $4 an hour, with the potential for additional lump sum payments. TORONTO
The City of Toronto, in partnership with the Toronto Public Library, will bring temporary Wi-Fi access to select parks in northwest Toronto as part of a week-long pilot project called Wi-Fi on Wheels. This initiative was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure vulnerable Torontonians can connect online to important information, social supports and vital services.
