WHAT TO KNOW
Global COVID-19 cases have reached 21,689,832, up from 20,900,777 at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Canada now reports 122,087 cases, up from 121,234 cases of COVID-19 on Friday. Ontario reports 40,745 cases, up from 40,459 cases on Friday.
The growth rate of new cases in the province is still under 1%, with 99 (0.2%) new cases reported since yesterday. Of the province’s total cases, 37,036 have been resolved (90.9%) and there have been 2,789 deaths (6.8%). The province has now completed 2,608,219 tests and reports 15,076 tests are currently under investigation. More information here.

FEDERAL
The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) has released the e-course Pandemic Planning: Reopening for Business, to help organizations across Canada safely return to work during the COVID-19 pandemic. The course will guide employers, supervisors, managers and workers on how to prepare for a safe return to work, and what controls are needed to be put in place to protect everyone and minimize the impact of the pandemic. To ensure that Canadian workers and businesses are in a better position as the economy safely re-opens, the Government of Canada has recently implemented changes to the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) that broaden the reach of the program and provide more targeted support. Today, the Minister of National Revenue, the Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, announced that the Canada Revenue Agency has opened applications for Period 5 – the first period of the enhanced CEWS program. PROVINCIAL
Today, Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott announced at the 2020 Association of Municipalities Ontario conference, that Ontario’s public health units will be getting an additional $47 million in one-time provincial funding for the 2020 and 2021 funding years to help cover the extraordinary costs of the COVID-19 pandemic response.
