PROVINCIAL
As students, teachers and staff return to school, the Ontario government is providing up to $1.3 billion in critical supports and has delivered more than 37 million pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE) to safely reopen classrooms across the province. These investments are part of Ontario’s comprehensive back to school plan which was developed in consultation with medical experts, school boards, and educators. More information here.
Ontario won’t consider any additional loosening of public health measures for the next month due to a recent uptick in COVID-19 infections. Health Minister Christine Elliott announced at Queen’s Park this afternoon, noting that it was a decision her government made on the basis of advice from Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams. The decision will mean that the province won’t consider increasing the number of people allowed to gather indoors (50) or outdoors (100) for the time being, nor will it expand social circles any further.
