It’s no secret that Toronto workers have been feeling the pressure of high downtown housing costs for far too long. But under the leadership of Mayor John Tory and Deputy Mayor Ana Bailao, the city has launched a number of bold actions to build much-needed housing. After two years since the Housing Now Initiative was launched, it’s time to ask how the city is doing? What’s needed to build on this progress and deliver even more solutions?
To help answer these questions, we’ve launched part two of the three-part “Housing a Generation of Essential Workers” series. To unpack the report, and discuss the important progress that is already underway, we’ll be joined by an expert panel. They’ll examine the city’s modular supportive housing initiative, what makes up an effective housing model, and if regional housing models can be scaled to the needs of today’s workers.
